Welcome to a love letter, a monthly publication from artist, writer and yoga teacher Colby Mackenzie featuring stories of my loving practices and support for yours. Thanks for being here.
Hello loves!
Happy final full month of winter (again! and again and again!).
There is a creek that runs through the Village of Oak Creek, Arizona from a canyon up north that winds down from Flagstaff mountain. That photo above is not of this place, but it could be. You curve around the slim canyon with its sharp descent into the rushing water for 30 miles. The turns are tight and even when its not winter and the ice hasn’t set, it’s best to go slow.
Only way to get the views.
So, may this attitude lend itself to you this continued winter.
May you soak it up and let it in… alll the slow, easy, less-is-more energy.
Do not be fooled by New Year’s to-dos or work deadlines. Yes, those things matter. Yes, they will get done.
In the space between.
All the rest.
Your human body.
Needs to become itself.
Reminder: There are 4 Ways to Rest
Sleep
Meditation (here’s our Poetry Pause from last winter, “Mink”)
Play
Mindless, rhythmic activities
Go get some!
Spring and the energy of what drives the green fuse through the flower will be here before you know it. Appreciate what is, right now.
All love,
Colby
