Welcome to a love letter, a monthly publication from artist, writer and yoga teacher Colby Mackenzie featuring stories of my loving practices and support for yours. Thanks for being here.
Hello loves!
Every year since my dear friend Kelly first took me to see the tulip fields in Rosslyn, Virginia during the early days of COVID, she sends me a photo when they reach peak bloom.
And every year, the photo serves as an announcement: Spring Has Sprung!
I notice the colors and pretend I’m back there walking among them.
I look up from my phone and outdoors to notice the signs of spring in the area wherever I am.
Right now in Sedona, the trees are thick with green and there are dogwoods blooming. I notice more birds and more of their sounds. More dandelions and bees. And of course, more ants :).
The more we notice, the more we appreciate all the abundance around us right now.
Nature is shining, screaming, with its plenty. Showing up and showing out, flaunting its beauty after the long dead days of winter. It is doing what is natural - the most - and we all benefit.
May we also don our colors and shine with our creative plenty.
All love,
Colby
PS. I’ve decided to have a sober month in April in honor of Spring cleaning. Anyone else want to join?
Happy April, Colby! I love your love letter! It feels so good to pour a cup of coffee first thing each morning and look out back as flowers bloom, trees bud, and all of the colors of spring start to pop. Not to mention the birds singing & enjoying the suet cakes that Uncle Steve faithfully provides for them. Thank you for the reminder to not just notice these things, but to appreciate them.
Love you!
Good Morning, Colby! I’m planning to join you for April Spring Cleaning! And, this is not an April Fool’s joke! Thank you for recommending such a healthy non-activity! You are amazing:-)
