Welcome to a love letter, a monthly publication from artist, writer and well-being teacher Colby Mackenzie featuring stories of my loving practices and support for yours. Thanks for being here.
Hello loves!
Happy November and all the things. I thought to myself sitting down (late) to write this newsletter - what is the most value I can convey to you all right now?
What hits home for me the most this month?
It is this:
Because I have a finite number of words left - who can say how many? - and each one that’s less than loving is a squandered opportunity.
— Real Life & Liars, Kristina Riggle
World Kindness Day is November 13, a week after our country’s already-contentious election.
Besides vote - what can I do?
As always, the answer lies in practice.
I can be kind. Choose my words impeccably (as in the Four Agreements). Throw out words that are less than loving. Remember that everyone else’s internal landscapes are as complex as mine. Remember how much others’ words have hurt me, and aspire to not perpetuate the cycle by hurting others.
It is not easy, but these are the practices that become worth it.
What will you do with the finite number of words you have left this November?
Sending lots of loving opportunities,
Colby
P.S Thank you to love letter subscriber Katie for sharing the quote with me during a recent visit to Sedona!
